environmental protection agency
If you share our concern about the proposed Integra wastewater treatment plant and its potential impact on the Flint River, you can take action by submitting a report to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The EPA accepts citizen reports of possible environmental risks under the Clean Water Act, and your voice helps highlight threats to our river and our community’s health.
To help filling out the form easier, we have provided some of the standard information for you below. Additionally, we’ve also included sample text you can copy or adapt to complete the violation description. To strengthen your submission, please download and attach the provided image when completing the EPA’s online Report Environmental Violations form.
By adding your report — along with key details like dates, locations, or observations — you help ensure decision-makers understand the community’s urgent concern and support the call to relocate this facility to a more suitable site.

Violation description
Integra Water Madison County, LLC plans to build a wastewater treatment facility adjacent to our community, the closest contact being within 450 feet of homes (diagram is attached). The close proximity of the facility will engulf our community in a horrible odor at best, and may expose homes to dangerous levels of airborne bacteria and pathogens. We would like the EPA to compel Integra Water Madison County, LLC to relocate their planned wastewater treatment facility away from existing homes - there are many alternative locations in the area.
The Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) issued a draft permit to Integra Water Madison County, LLC, but our neighborhood's outpouring of concern during the draft permit 30-day comment period compelled ADEM to put the permit on hold and schedule a public hearing for us to voice our concerns. The hearing has yet to be scheduled.
